Did you know that the portfolio of Alan Warwick designs are thicker than most old suburban phone books. He was a skilled & versatile practitioner of naval architectural symmetries which can be found in this gracefully executed cruiser/racer, the Warwick 46. From the timeless Stem and Transom angles, modern beamy cockpit and expansive quality teak laid deck space, you can see this NZ built beauty was designed to please.
Once through the companion way you'll be surprised by the sheer volume of the expansive traditional solid timber living areas not seen in today's production yachts. The Warwick 46 was originally designed for the American high end performance racer/cruiser market in the 90's. Her deep keel and tall 63ft mast promotes good upwind efficiency via generous depth and lateral plane as well as a high lift shape, providing excellent upwind speed. One of the keys to her forgiving nature is a keel shape that balances good lift/drag characteristics with good stall resistance.
Warwick gave the 46 relatively full hull sections, especially aft of the keel. By doing so he not only increased her sail carrying power, he also built in displacement and created room to accommodate a very solid & complete interior with a traditional elegance not seen with current production yacht manufacturing. The woodwork prowess arrived at a layout where solid woods were well chosen, space & storage well organised and impressions of openness and elegance are dominant. The Warwick 46 saloon is situated well forward. This creates a seating proximity that is good for socialising and leaves the middle of the boat for the very large L shaped Galley and Chart Table that benefit from boat motion being easiest toward the centre. This Warwick 46 conceals a seagoing cottage within!
From her clean powerful three spreader mast-head rig with in furling Boom and furling headsails, Corniche performs with rapid blue water speed. If Offshore racing is your preference then the Warwick pedigree and powerful build qualities come into play seeing you through any conditions with speed & safety. Corniche (French for A Passage By The Sea) has been loved and well maintained by the same family over the last 20yrs.
No expense has been spared on the maintenance and upgrades of this fine example and on first hand viewing you will appreciate the build quality and presentation on display by her fastidious owner.
